Alleged Luggage Pilfering on Arik Airline at MMIA

Muhammed-International-Airp.jpg - Muhammed-International-Airp.jpgThere was commotion yesterday at the arrival hall of the Murtala Muhammed International airport, Ikeja, Lagos when some passengers that arrived from New York on Arik Air flight accused the workers at the airport of pilfering their luggage.
The passengers threatened legal action and almost physically assaulted the handling company that processes Arik Air flights, alleging that their luggage were forced open. The passengers also alleged that most of their valuables were missing from the luggage.

The comotion caused by the passengers attracted the attention of security agencies, including operatives of State Security Services (SSS) who promptly carried out investigations, weighed the bags and later scrutinised each of them. After detailed examination, they noticed that the US Transport Security Administration (TSA) at the JFK International Airport, New York Airport scrutinised the bags after they were checked in, opened some of them to examine their content and later left acknowledgment notes on the opened bags.

The investigations by security agencies also revealed that the bags were opened at the point of departure of the flight, and not the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos as insinuated by the passengers routine security checks ."This doused the tension . Let it be known that this happened at the point of departure."
