INEC de-registers 2 more political parties

Two more political parties in Nigeria have been removed from the system recently after the Independent National Electoral Commission unregistered them stating they failed to meet the requirements stipulated by the Electoral Act 2010 as amended.

Change Advocacy Party and Democratic Front for a Peoples Federation added to the list brings the total number of chopped parties to 30.
“We have taken the decision to de-register 28 parties and as far as we are concerned, we have acted legally, since they failed to meet the requirements of the party.”  Prof. Attahiru Jega said.
The Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Kayode Idowu, confirmed the changes. During the de-registration of the other 28 political parties, INEC Chairman, Prof. Jega, had justified it claiming the action was because the parties did not meet the requirement of the law.
According to reports, Jega told reporters during a meeting with stakeholders and its validation conference of 2012-2016 strategic plans, that parties could be unregistered so long as they fail to meet the requirements of the law.
But this means there are still space to register new parties as long as they met the laid down rules.
 Hmmmm...
